Topic: E3D prints have a pitted look with small gaps between layers

I dialed in my extruder trim pot, and I don't have any noticeable squiggle at all. The first two or three layers that are solid infill look as good or better than any I've seen my machine print.  But after the first few layers, the perimeter passes develop gaps between individual strands of filament.  This results in gaps in adjacent strands from adjacent layers, and  an overall pitted appearance.  Any ideas?

At what speed and temp are you printing at? What calibrations have you done?

...sativas are for smoking!

Looks like you are under-extruding.  Try these two calibrations:

1. http://www.solidoodle.com/extruder-calibration
2. http://www.solidoodle.com/flow-rate

If the problem persists, try increasing the extrusion width to .48mm, and if that doesn't help increase the extrusion multiplier by a small increment.
