Topic: Usb on off switch .....?

There might be a completely easier way to do this .... but ......  could I wire an on off switch to my usb?  The idea behind this is when I have my computer on and my printer off, the fan on the extruder motor still spins from the power on the usb.  Do you guys thing I could wire in a switch to the usb to turn that off completely without screwing with the communication from computer to the printer?  And while I'm asking, is there a post to wire an actual on off switch to the printer?  Right now I just keep pulling power, and that's annoying.

Overkill is underrated!!!

Fan running on USB power is fine, and just put it on a surge protector strip. QED.

Re: Usb on off switch .....?

you could cut the 5v line in the USB that will solve the fan problem.  if you have the stock board and power supply its more difficult to put a switch on that.

you could get a surge protector and use the switch on that lo. or a switched receptacle

good luck
