Not sure what all I need to upgrade to get this working but I'm about to order a different power supply as well. Just wanted to see what you guys had to say about this before I pull the trigger.
Yes you can.
Besides printing the mounts, You need to shim the E3D slightly with guitar wire, a washer, u-mold etc as its not a perfect groove-mount its actually slightly taller.
You dont have to upgrade the power supply for either of these upgrades, but it is highly recommended.
Is there any reason you aren't going with the XL. It is geared 5:1 and for all practical purposes eliminates the need for a 1/32 stepper for the Extruder.

Well.. Two reasons.. because I'm new to all this and not sure the difference as well as the price was a bit cheaper. The second part doesn't much matter though.

If Cheaper doesn't matter get the XL it is geared down so you can't see the pulse of 1/16th steps in your prints. That wavy pattern you see on the sides of your prints.

Ah, that makes complete sense! Will do. I'm the one who had some clogging issues and although I think I narrowed it down to the filament I was using, I had read a couple complaints about clogging with the stock hot end.. so I figured... Why not upgrade my hot end?.. and while I'm at it might as well get a better extruder. Then.. While I'm doing that.. might as well upgrade my power supply so I can upgrade some other things later. What a vicious cycle this is all turning into! The best way to learn is to jump right in though.

As long as your having fun and learning something in the process, that's all that matters. While you at it order some polished 8mm rods and linear bearings and I have a new mount that works really good. Otherwise I have one for the SD carriage that works fine also. That one is already on here in another post. I'll go find it and post the link.

I think the SD3 came standard with some 8mm rods in the y-axis and linear bearings. Should be all set for that mod. My current set of calipers are super old and don't have a measurement device attached to them so I have to bring it over to a ruler.. I could be off a little.

No it didn't I'll post a couple of pictures of the difference. I have two SD3's right in front of me. One with the stock set up and one with linear bearings.

That would be excellent. I measured the rods out to be 8mm. Not really sure about the linear bearings.

But... it looks fun. Although, I have no idea where to get linear bearings.
I can wait to do those til I am more familiar with everything though. Is there any other files I need other than the one you already linked?
Nope, and if you need help just reach out and I'd be glad to take you through the set up.
You might need to get one of those small little plastic screwdrivers for adjusting the Stepper Driver.
