Re: Solidoodle 3 fixed problems and current problems. HELP?!

Looking good!  I would suggest your next print should be lawsy's mk5.  Your going to need it I'd post a link but I'm working from my phone right now.  Just look it up on Thingiverse.  Also remember don't leave your extruder heat on while your not printing.  It will clog the nozzle.

Oh thanks i found it. Is it really worth it to take it apart and replace it with that

Re: Solidoodle 3 fixed problems and current problems. HELP?!

Yep but you don't need to do it now.  Just print it because that acrylic will break and you'll have a spare when you need it.

Support is in Slic3r so in R-H click on the configure button on the slicer screen.  That will bring up slic3r you'll find it in there.  I'll get you a screenshot when I get I front of my computer.  About 20 minutes.

Re: Solidoodle 3 fixed problems and current problems. HELP?!

lots of info in this photo so pay attention.  Mostly make sure you are changing things for the particular print setting you are using.  Click the generate support material box and that should do it.

I would print spare parts for your printer.  Your looking for things to print anyway so you might as well make some spare parts.  If you don't then that's when you'll need them.  Do a search for Solidoodle on thingiverse you will find many things that you may or may not eventually use.  but at least you'll have 'em if you do big_smile

I really enjoyed printing "Santa Stuck in the Chimney"  That was a fun gift to give to people but it's a little late for that.
Most of the stuff I print are of my own design.... parts, knobs practical things.

Re: Solidoodle 3 fixed problems and current problems. HELP?!

Oh alright and currently I'm printing something with supports. What's the best way to neatly remove them

Re: Solidoodle 3 fixed problems and current problems. HELP?!

If I may: I've printed about half the things in my collections http://www.thingiverse.com/spapadim/collections -- Swiss army keychain, Seej game sets (this was a retail game when I was a kid), heart gears, come to mind, although I also mostly print utilitarian things like wardjr.

Enjoy the printer for a month or two (and get better feel for it) before ripping it apart smile  I never needed the mk5 but I think I was lucky and never got a showstopper clog while I was still on the stock hotend, so never removed hotend to clean (but when I did remove it to replace, I did crack the acrylic).

For supports: if you're using latest version of slic3r (1.0.something) they should be easier to remove. No best way: rip out, gently scrape with Xacto, lightly file with needle files (eg http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NPUKYS ), etc. I rarely use supports (nozzle fan and enclosure help with overhangs, you can definitely go more than 45deg, but generally I just avoid designs than need a lot of support and turn it on only if first print attempt indicates I really need it, or there are obvious spots that need it like 90deg overhangs into free air).

Re: Solidoodle 3 fixed problems and current problems. HELP?!

Alright great, thanks for all the info.  I plan to print more practical things that I designed myself but I have yet to get use to sketch-up

Re: Solidoodle 3 fixed problems and current problems. HELP?!

and also I went to print and I noticed that the hot end is like a quarter inch off from the bed but when i hit the z-home button after printing the bed and tip are perfectly level even when checking all around the bed. any idea whats causing this?

I don't know exactly what you asking.  Are you saying that when you hit run job it is trying to print in mid air?  Even though it is set right when you hit z-home.  I am in the middle of another project right now but I will try to check in periodically.
