Topic: Hot x stepper motor

X stepper making loud low frequency squeal at certain spots. Temperature over 80 Deg C.
I am using a stock SD3(brand new) with the supplied power supply. I read off google "you shouldn't heat the motors above 80 degree celsius or the wire isolation and rotor-magnetisation will degrade!" This is a concern as my temperatures are significantly above this. See attached photo.
Please advise... Thanks in advance

Re: Hot x stepper motor

For six months i was running motor without any cooling (with an enclosure). Y axis is fine (printer frame acts as giant heatsink?) but X axis was too hot to touch. Didn't have any issues, but while pulling printer apart for an unrelated "upgrade" recently, I just got one of these (in retrospect, 30mm height is overkill, but.. whatever), drilled and tapped to screw on 40mm fan, and installed with thermal adhesive. Motor runs *much* cooler. Not sure if necessary, but figured it can't hurt... Low frequency "grumbling" did occur occasionally, but didn't have issues for long time... squeal, no... perhaps it's belt?

I printed one of these: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:128526

I don't think its necessary, but it is comforting to have particularly with a heated enclosure.
