Topic: 3D Printing Ceramics By Extrusion
I've been looking into 3D printing as an option for creating custom mugs and other ceramic objects. From what I've seen, consumer level printers extrude clay, but services like Shapeways utilize a powder.
Can comparable results for ceramic objects be obtained using the extruding printers rather than a powder approach? Is there any reason the clay that is extruded by printers like Hyrel cannot be glazed and fired like any other item?
