Topic: PLA Jamming Issue
Hello,
I'm running a solidoodle 3 and loving it.
I am having no issues printing with ABS. Smooth, even extrusion, good stick to the build plate(glass with hairspray). Couldnt be happier.
Running ABS filament at 220 onto 120 heated bed.
When i first got my printer in august, i was able to run both ABS and PLA just fine.
Printing with some red PLA, i was running at 197, with absolutely no issues at all. Bed slightly warmed to 70c.
Recently, i picked up a spool of white PLA. Had it running ~same temp as the red PLA. in test extrusions it was coming out just fine. I started a print, and came back an hour later to check in on things. the print had worked cleanly for about half an inch, then my extruder jammed. The printer continued to work, with nothing coming out of course. I estimate it was trying to force material through for ~30 minutes while clogged. The nozzel was completed impacted and i had to disassemble the entire extruder assembly to clear it out.
Now, my printer is back up and running. ABS printing through just fine, nice clean, warp free prints even on 6-8 hour jobs.
But now, my printer is jamming on any PLA filament i feed it - even the original red i had success with in august.
If i back out the PLA and put in ABS - it feeds without issue.
I have tried playing with the extruder temp - ranging from 160 - 225, and no luck. Same jamming issue.
Can anyone float any ideas on what is causing my issue?
I have seen things about partial melting and heating too far up the feed nozzle, but i thought by lowering my temp that would solve the problem, but no luck.
Thanks for your help!
