Topic: z axis, maybe x&y messed up

if I hit the z home the z limit switch gets activated and the z axis goes home like it is suppose to.

but when I run a job it seems like the z will only go up so far and will not engage the limit switch.

anyone have any ideas how to reset my machine to zero so to speak?

*I have restarted the machine, my computer, uninstalled the software, reinstalled the software.
I have a Solidoodle 3

thankyou,
Ryan.

Re: z axis, maybe x&y messed up

so I kinda "fixed" the problem,
last night I had taken while the machine was on and hooked to my computer; turned the motors off and wound the z axis down.
-this I guess resulted in the tolerance issue,
-so to fix I wound the z axis back up,
-problem is im back to printing just fine,
-but don't know if I compromised my build space of 8" in the z axis.

does anyone know ?

I thought it was weird that the z axis was limited in travel besides the z axis switch.

thoughts?

The z-tab or z limit switch is the only thing that controls z height(in hardware) so when you hit 'home z' it has to activate that switch if it does not then something is interfering with it.
