Topic: port com10 does not exist

Noob. Got SD3 in Aug 2013. Connected all to windows 8.1 with new Samsung laptop - (mouse not touch screen) and began to print the spool. Got the same issues covered very well in this forum with curling but excited all working besides that. Began progressions on solutions. Due to work distraction shut printer down (intend to build an on/off switch). Came back after 3 week hiatus and loaded up RH85 and loaded spool, visually confirmed. Hit "connect" and get "The port com10 does not exist." Searched forum. Found a short thread suggesting config-printer-select-com10. It was already selected. Stuck.

I also started slicr3 and get "Access to path C:\Program Files\Repetier-Host-Solidoodle\composition.stl is denied.

Note: Nothing has been plugged/unplugged except SD3 power cable.

Shut all down, restarted, sameo. Do I have a Bill Gates problem or what? Appreciate comments in advance.

Re: port com10 does not exist

Are there any other ports listed in RH85 in the config window?

I do not have 8.1 so I don't know if this will be something windows did or not....

Re: port com10 does not exist

I'm on Windows 7 and see this error occasionally. Simply unplugging the usb cable and plugging it back in fixes it for me.

Check the device manager and that a different com port number hasn't been assigned

- edit - can someone move this to the appropriate forum area

Done.

Former Solidoodle employee, no longer associated with the company.

Re: port com10 does not exist

RH was indicating Com Port 10. The only choices were "Comport 3" and "Virtual Printer". I chose comport three. I am now connecting. Thanks for the comments and I noted the proper forum area.
thx

Fantastic, I'm glad that resolved it and hopefully this helps someone else too.
