Topic: Trouble printing with pla

Can anyone tell me there temp settings in pla for best results. I have been printing at temps 180-185 it will work fine at the start, but jams like in the first 15 min.

got any pics?

How is it jamming... tip clog or filament curl above hotend?

temps will depend on your specific pla... if it is bending the filament try lowering the temp 5 degrees and see how it prints.

I do not have any pics right now but i will take one if it happens again. I am getting the filament curl above the hot end i even lowered the temp to 175 but still having the same issues.

Re: Trouble printing with pla

depending on the pla some will print as low as 160C on a Sd printer..... is your fan on the back of the print head working? if not this will cause filament curl.

yes my fan is working. How can you extrude at 160? do i have to manually update the firmware?

Re: Trouble printing with pla

I was printing PLA @ 145C (Sainsmart, printed JustPLA @ 152), sending GCode M302 to allow for cold extrusion, better to set the MIN TEMP in firmware, but it works in a pinch.

I'd try stepping down by 5 degrees until the consistency looks good (no ooze, but not too stiff that it doesn't shape/bend well).
