Topic: scaling from cad program to repetier

I am using alibre (geomagic) and did a design that is the exact dimensions that it needs to be.  when i export it to .stl and bring it into repetier it's tiny.  Not at all to scale.

I figure I have to scale it up like x15 to get it right.  Is that something with my export?  Is there a trick to being able to go from cad program to repetier with the exact dimensions.

Thanks

Re: scaling from cad program to repetier

x15 is unusual - normally the problem is evident when a model is in mm's and exported in inches or vice-versa ... repetier displays in mm's so scaling by 25.4 fixes the problem ...

But if its x15... no idea, doesn't sound like an ordinary unit problem...

OK i'll check that.  I think I did do the dimensions in geomagic in metric, but maybe in the export it changed it to imperial or something funky.

You usually have to specify the units on export and also be sure to use the same units on import.

STL does not specify units in the file.

Re: scaling from cad program to repetier

When saving as STL in inventor there is an "advanced" or "options" where you can set your dimensions. For some reason I think the default is the odd deci-centimeter, at least it was the original setting for me.
