Topic: Tighten X belt

Hi everyone,

Well I've had a great time with my printer, gone through about 8kg of plastic with pretty much everything set up as stock. It is now falling apart left right and centre. Is there an easy way of tightening the X belt? I am looking to print Lawsy's X and Y carriages, but unfortunately things are getting a little bit worse for wear, and am not getting good prints anymore.

Let this be a lesson to everyone, print new parts for your printer now! The ones you have are great, but if something happens to them, you'll regret not having spares.

That's why it's in my signature. You have the same setup to tension the X belt as your Y belts. It is underneath the x-carriage.

SD3 w/ mods:
Glass bed with QU-BD heat pad upgrade, threadless ballscrew w/ 8mm smooth rod, spectra line belt replacement, lawsy MK5 extruder, Lawsy replacement carriage, E3D hotend, Ramps 1.4 w/ reprap discount controller, DRV8825 drivers, 12v 30A PS, Acrylic case, Overkill Y-idlers, Filament alarm, Extruder fan + more.

Re: Tighten X belt

It's very hard to get to and even harder to tension.

You have to pull the belt as tight as you want and then tighten a bolt to hold it in place.

As you will see on my new carriages, I use a y-axis style turning bolt to tension easily.

Re: Tighten X belt

Thanks for the reply guys.

I've pulled it all apart and it looks like I have what lawsy is talking about... I've fumbled around with it for a while now and cant move the belt in there at all. I've just added an additional 7 cable ties to my printer on top of the existing 4 wink I've wrapped it around the belt, then around the back half of the x carriage .. heres hoping it stays together long enough to print your new design! This is all assuming that the cable to the heater stays together for the print as well, as that is held in place with the other four cable ties smile

The bed is heating up as we speak...

Thanks again to you both, and thanks lawsy for providing the replacement parts!
