The point is I placed an order for basic parts 2 weeks ago.
Pulleys, a couple motors, and shafts are all things that should be readily available.
I COULD have ordered through say Amazon, gotten my parts cheaper and probably twice over by now. But I chose to give Solidoodle my business.

I will issue a chargeback if they have not shipped by end of business Friday.

Totally reasonable.

Here's what I *can* do. I can send a quick e-mail to some friends of mine at SD, and see if I can't dig up why your order has been delayed. How does that sound?

All quiet on the SD front.

Do you still work there or not? If not, it might be time for a username change. The username combined with how you post gives the impression you are still a part of the company.

I'm just saying, they haven't released any new information. I'm also not sure what the point of bumping a sticky is.

Could you answer the question? If you aren't on their payroll, then I think it is appropriate to retire this username.

No, I'm not, but I do keep in close contact with them. I've said that several times here. I changed my profile even.

I don't want to change my username, but how's about this: I'll write something about it in my sig.

Fair resolution?

Are the Solidoodle press printers still on time to begin shipping on December 5th? Also is there any chance they may begin to ship sooner?

Re: Orders Shipping List

I used to do purchasing etc at a few jobs and if I had this many "excuses" for delays. or call backs on service orders. I got demoted or terminated instead of a raise or bonus. thats how upper Management sees it. any time you use venders, contractors or out source duties you learn to NOT sign 'boiler plate/form" contracts but demand safeguards against such things. for example;

under no circumstances do you sign/agree to something that dont have a means of breaking the contract immediately upon written notification if, either party fails to follow through on all aspects of it.

never sign long term agreements beyond 1 year without requiring review, nor automatically renewed contracts (which often have a Claus to increase cost annually).

read close for anything putting extra burdens of added cost for extras or parts without pre-aproval (this is how service contracts multiply in costs).

always include something in regards to meeting deadline dates which penalize the provider monetarily for each day past dead line if they fail to meet them with only catastrophes or acts of war beyond their control as an acceptable excuse.

(if they have supplier issues thats their problem not their customers, as they made the poor choice of using their supplier without similar protection. any respectable supplier will make it right including paying damages for lost revenue. thats why companies pay for business insurance and have multi million dollar bonded backing). also purchase requisitions required so scam suppliers cant just send your company things with extreme priced invoice that nobody ordered.)

this is just some stuff I learned working as facilities Engineer for Feral gov institutes that required such things as well as minimum of 3 independent bids for all contracts.

I made a world class service/installation contractor do this and they 1st refused then complied when we looked at 2nd choice. 1 year later they tried to say it was automatically renewed and I caught them. after they reread contract they couldn't believe I got the 'standard form' rewritten that way. saved my company hundreds of thousands.

never fall for the famous sales lie "thats how everyone has done it for years now" tell them your not concerned about "everyone" only your own money/company.

I am adding absolutely nothing useful to this discussion, but your slight spelling error above (Feral vs. Federal) has me laughing out loud (hopefully with you now that you see it, not at you).

I'm imagining trying to corner some dirty, wild wolf-man in an Uncle Sam costume....corral him into a cage with a shock prod and one of those dog-garrotte thingies at the end of a stick.  Wish we could get that kind of control over our real government (uh oh...politics!!)

Sorry, I now return you to your regularly scheduled broadcast. :-)

I don't mean to discourage you, but the customer service folks are not going to know a heck of a lot more than the published announcements. Remember, you are calling the customer service department, not Sam. If you intend to make a fuss, please remember you are talking to customer service folks with no say in the shipping schedule.

Of course if you intend to change your order or cancel, that's another story.

Re: Orders Shipping List

You may want to check the blog again,  because the shipping date for that range is Jan. 5th to Jan 9th.  Also please look up the definition of estimate as opposed to promise.

Solidoodle Workbench

Between 12/23 – 12/26 we estimate to ship Workbench orders 26011 – 26755

Between 12/30 – 01/09 we estimate to ship Workbench orders 27019 – 27541

Between 01/05 – 01/09 we estimate to ship Workbench orders 27543 – 29510

Between 01/12 – 01/16 we estimate to ship Workbench orders 29528 – 30137

Between 01/19 – 01/23 we estimate to ship Workbench orders 30236 – 31680

Between 01/26 – 01/30 we estimate to ship Workbench orders 31790 – 32903

This may also be why you are not receiving any E-mails from service.  All customer service will tell you is that your printer hasn't shipped and you will receive an E-mail when it does.   I think customer service has better things to do right now then reply to individual e-mails when the information is posted for anyone to read.  for example, getting configuration information for the new 12x12 printers up on their support site.

Doesnt mater now anyway, changed number...new number goes auto to pre-recorded "nobody is available"...this is the problem with using money from last months orders to fulfill the prior months orders...Sam claims to have thousands in the "wild" and raked in $7m in sales yet doesnt have assembled/tested builds on hand to ship when orders arise...kind of mind blowing.
