Topic: Carrage bearings

are the bearings in the printer carriage suppose to spin free in the plastic.
I am hearing a rattle and it sounds like one of the bearings.

Thanks

Re: Carrage bearings

None of my printer have loose bearing, and I don't think it is good, may cause z-band in print

They snap into the carriage, but they are not loose. On mine there is a glob of green epoxy that is placed on them and the middle of the carriage slot that they snap into.

Re: Carrage bearings

If the plastic only is worn and the bearings in good shape wax or oil the bearing and add a bit of ca glue or epoxy to fill the gap and hold them in place.

Re: Carrage bearings

I talked to Makerbot support and was told not to secure the bearing that it may cause bindin. he informed me the only thing a loose bearing would cause is layer shift which I do not have problems with that.
