Topic: troubleshoot print please

I printed a 30X30X30 calibration cube
.2mm layer thickness
100% infill
and this is how it came out.

Re: troubleshoot print please

Looks like mainly over extrusion to me. Since you are on a Makerbot it may be hard to dial it in. I can't remember how much liberty their Host and firmware gives a user.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

I tend to agree.  Looking at the top surface, the jagged junction between the square perimeter and diagonal fill are an indicator for me.

Re: troubleshoot print please

I talked to Makerbot support this morning and was informed that when  printing with 100% infill you will typically get
over extrusion.

Nice they did not mention that in the manual.. Although most of the time 80 to 90% is close enough to solid there is not much difference in strength.

Re: troubleshoot print please

Is this unique feature of Makerbot or because the material being used? I never get this 100% infill issue but my experience limited to PLA and never used Makerbot.

It's a Makerbot issue. They use a closed firmware and closed host. The user has very little control of any of the printer settings.  You Basically pick between Low, Medium, or High quality.

OK, Makerbot is not my type for sure now. It's good to know, thanks.
