Topic: Speaking of running smoothly...

My SD3 still has the stock rods, screw and bearings. It moans and groans. I've brushed Teflon lubricant on the ways but she still groans. What is she trying to tell me besides, "Don't get old - there's no future in it"?

Off hand, it could be an alignment issue or a belt-tightness issue.  Like the way trains, with no differentials in their axels, squeak when they make turns.  You could try various alignment procedures like in this video: http://wiki.solidoodle.com/belt-adjustment.  Basically (you probably know this, judging by your join date and number of posts) you loosen things, wiggle stuff, and then tighten again.  When you are done, hopefully your printer feels better.

SD2 Sanguinololu 1.3a atmega1284p, wood platform, lawsy's carriages, braided fishing line, pallet wood overhead spool mount, carboard/magnet enclosure, glass bed, E3D v6, bed levelling knobs, extended z-stop, 25A DC-DC SSR for bed heater, everything fixed to the SD2 frame, marlin firmware with some adjustments and extra failsafes enabled.  I'll never give up on you, little printer that could(n't)!
