right click taskbar, left click task manager. should be a services tab
service is called makerware conveyor if i remember correctly
i don't have win10 but do you not have a services tab. cuz thats where i turn off conveyor. not from the menu
Oh, I did not think about That, I will check the status there, Thanks !
right click taskbar, left click task manager. should be a services tab
Well, I found it in task-manager, and it was 'stopped', but when I try to start it, it goes to 'started' for about 1 second and then back to 'stopped' ![]()
So conveyor must be Corrupted somehow ???
is there a config file with Conveyor that needs to be changed or deleted ?
did you change it to automatic
you might need to uninstall/reinstall to get proper drivers to run with software
did you change it to automatic
It was set to 'automatic'
When I Uninstalled version 3.7 and then installed version 2.4 is when Conveyor stopped working.
So, I think the next step to try to remove everything Makerbot and then reinstall 2.4 ,
unless you know of something else I can try ??
![]()
I reinstalled Makerbot-2.4 and Still getting 'Background Service Unavailable' Message ![]()
Can't figure out what happened ???
Makerbot-3.7 must have stored config data in a hidden-file or the Windows registry.
because when I reinstalled it, it worked, and even restored setup profiles that I had created.
I thought those profiles would be deleted with everything else, but they restored from Somewhere ???
Of course 3.7 is still Banging the extruders into side, so I'm back where I started
with No solution to that problem, when using Makerbot software ![]()
I do now know how to disable Makerbot-Conveyor, when I want to use Rep-G software, tho. ![]()
since you have makerware up and running again, try turning that service off in task manager then run rep'g
when you say banging in to the sides, do you mean that initial string of filament in the front of the bed to clear nozzle or the actual print itself

Just click on services at the top of the window and click disable/stop background service.
The post where I explained about Banging extruders, has been removed from this thread ! ![]()
Wardjr's question that I was replying to is also gone. ![]()
Why would a Moderator do That ?
No moderators have done that as far as I am aware. As your topic that would be something you can do but for a moderator to do that, we'd have to go out of our way. I wish there was a way for us to retrieve that kind of thing.

But where did those posts Go ??
Do they get removed by Server somehow?
It's just seems strange that Only your question and my answer are gone,
unless there is a lot more gone, that I don't remember was there ?

I don't know what happens to them, just that I can't retrieve anything.
What was my questions? I'll repost
I'll go ahead and answer Again.
Question was about what I meant by "Banging extruders".
When the extruder assembly goes off end of bed, during the Purge-run,
it Hits the end of side assembly , very hard.
Stepper-motor is trying to drive it passed the end, making loud noise.
Which will probably cause damage if the problem is not corrected.
So I will respond with questions.
Does the host software have spot where you can enter the build plate dimensions?
Is there maybe a couple different printers you can choose from in the host software?
Seems as though the host thinks the build area is larger than it really is.

I've not found anywhere in Makerbot software to enter plate dimensions. ![]()
It only has the different Makerware printer Models to choose from.
The change is build-plate size, of different Models, is GUI displayed
but changing Model type does not change the length of Purge-run. ![]()
(Which seems like a problem in that 3.7 version of software, to me)
What printer are you choosing from the models? It should be Replicator Dual. Maybe your software is borked. When I change to different models the actual dimensions of the print area indicator also change on screen.
As you can see by the images there is a difference in the stage width. I am using Makerbot Desktop 3.7 as well...

I've tried 5 different Model types , all have same Purge length.
I've reinstalled 3.7 twice already.
Yes, the stage-size changes but not the Purge-run Length.
I'm using the 3.7 version for 64bit, Windows-8.1 and 10,
Maybe that is the difference ??

Well according to CTC printers, the company that sold me mine on ebay. I have the all metal version. they claim there are issue with anything above Windows XP driving this printer. As for the software i still use Simplify3D for most prints and just put them on the SDcard and print from it. It does not do a purge line then but instead prints a skirt around the object to get the flow started. I have yet to be able to get anything to connect to my printer even after uninstalling Makerbot ware and wiping my harddrive with a fresh 7 install it still tells me that the port is in use by other software or devices. I think I am going to swap out mightyboard for a Rumba or something similar. Maybe a Pibot set up. Then it will be fully open source and work with any host and they way I want it to. The only thing CTC printers offered me was a 20 dollar refund for my troubles. They say the board is good and will work on XP. I do have a laptop I got for 35 bucks with a passworded harddrive with XP on it coming in a few days so I will see if their XP claim is true. XP passwords are easy to break and reset.
carl_m1968,
Have you tried connecting with 'Replicator-G' software, on the W-7 computer ?
Our CTC came with both Makerbot and Replicator-G, on a SD.
carl_m1968,

I have tried every form of software and OS there is for printers. Remember I have been doing this for 8 years and started with a Makerbot Cupcake. So I am very familiar with RepG and even making edits to it's Machine profiles to get passed certain bugs. But even this won't work on this printer. I get the same response on every OS and software that the port is busy or in use. I have even forced it to use other ports and get the same result. Neither 7, 8, nor Vista work. I don't have 10 yet and I will try XP once the laptop arrives and I crack the password.
By the way you can just call me Carl, I am the only active Carl here.
Carl,
Sounds like you have tried everything except a different computer,
So I hope you have Better Luck with the XP one.
But I don't understand why they would say it's Only for XP,
since it Obviously works with other OSs.
Maybe they meant the version of software you have is only for XP ??
I've tried both W-7 and W-10 and they work,
but there are evidently slightly different versions for those 2 OSs
So, there is probably a different version for XP Also ??
(as well as different versions for 32bit and 64bit OSs)
