Topic: SD2 making weird noises?

So im not sure if its always been like this or not but it seems to start making weird noises/vibrating when it hits certain notes. It Sounds like a rattling sound and only seems to happen when it hits certain sound notes while its printing. not sure if this is normal or ive got something wrong.

has anyone else experienced this? ive cheked everything to make sure nothing is loose and everything seems fine. i cant even pinpoint when the sound comes from it just seems like the whole machine will vibrate if it hits a certain Hz.

SD2 - stock with fan duct and glass bed.

is a motor making the sound? may be out of tune on pots or?

Solidoodle 2 with Deluxe kit cover & glass bed with heater. and 2nd board SD2 used not 3rd and alum platform not installed yet still wood. also need cooling fan installed to board. use Repetier Host couple vers. Slic3r also have all free ware STL programs

other things to look at in addition to vref...
belt rubbing?
idler pulley rubbing?
bushings need oiling?

have you greased the rods or bearings recently?

no i have not, what type of grease should i use? checked all pulleys and motors nothings rubbing or loose

i would recommend a white lithium grease

yup, white lithium for the rods and some light oil for the Y drive rod bushings (3-in-1 works fine)
a little goes a long way with the grease, too.

Awesome, thanks! ill try and pick some up tomorrow. sounds like that's gonna help. how often should i grease it? i noticed that all the rods still have the black grease on them except for the one closest to the nozzle. Im pretty sure the grease was black to begin with? lol maybe i should just clean and re grease all the rods.
