I am having 2 issues:
First, the stepper motor noise is a major nuisance, has anyone found a way to reduce it?
Second, my unit now makes a large noise when starting up similar to this video below. Another post indicates that a fan is failing. Has anyone replaced this or asked Solidoodle for support?
That's not a motor it's a fan. It sounds like it's just unbalanced. Find the problematic fan and either replace it or take it apart and line it up. Might need some oil too.

I am having 2 issues, the motors AND the fan. I edited my original post to clarify.
The fan is the one of the rear of the printer. I'm looking to see if anyone else has had the same issue (besides the YouTube poster).
Those fans SD uses are cheap. I had the same issue on my 4. As for the motors you can turn down VREF a bit but steppers are kinda loud anyway.
I removed the back fan. Dont know if I did good.

What is VREF?

It ejects air from the back, and if everything is shut up, pulls air in through slits in the bottom. (Speculation alert...) Removing the back fan might be depriving the controller board of cool air and be related to your E stepper chip overheating. BTW, if your stepper chip is overheating, consider adding a stick-on heat sink to the chip. Search for "Aluminum Self-adhensive Heatsink For 3D printer A4988" or something like that on ebay.
pshcims: first step is to make sure wires aren't dangling against the back fan or bottom fan. I used to have a loud fan, but it's since down to a dull roar, so there's hope.
@trayracing: I already print with the mainboard outside and with a fan over E stepper driver 
So that fan is useless for me if it does what you say it does. The E stepper driver overheating is a problem that I have looooooooong time before I removed the chamber fan.

I'm still actually having the same problem. After digging around the insides a bit I found out that it was actually the fan near the motherboard making that noise, and not the back fan. So far I've been kind of jerry-rigging it into a quiet state by sticking my hand in and tapping the center of the fan while it's running. Eventually it realigns the bits and pieces and makes it run quiet for the rest of the night. I've found for some reason turning the printer on and off a few times during this process helps get it to behave quicker too.
I have plans this weekend to pop the bottom panel open and actually oil the fan. I'll let you know how it goes!
Tighten your fan nuts, and then check em regularly. I've literally just now sorted out some fan noise problem with this very step. Rattly little sod shook its self right off my stepper.
i have the same fan noise on startup on my sd2pro on the extruder stepper cooler. it usually quiets down after about 30 seconds. i think i'm just going to replace the crap quality fan with a better one.
Just FYI, my fan does quiet down after 30 seconds, so I haven't been motivated to dig too deeply, but it would be nice to fix.
