Topic: Test Print

Hello everybody! Recently I have been starting work on my 3d printer and have not been able to get this print just right. Would anybody be willing to print out this 1 inch print and share there results with me? Thank you for your time!

Re: Test Print

What part are you suggesting we try to print?

How new are you to 3D printing?  Just trying to get an idea of your experience.

SD3, RUMBA, 360W power, ABS: Glass bed + Aquanet Extra Super Hold Hairspray, Anti-backlash Z spanner, Repetier Host + Slic3r

Re: Test Print

if some one wants to send me an email I can send the file. its a small little key chain about 2"x1"  I would prefer it wasn't public lol I am very new to 3d printing (weeks) ant the print isn't coming out right. thinking maybe your printers are tuned in and I could get some setting suggestions.

Re: Test Print

I just need one persons email to send the file too that is willing to print it and take a few pictures for me, maybe give me some advice on the settings and what not.

No worries we'll try and get you up and printing.  For the record I am sure what ever problems you're experiencing, it's been covered.  I understand that sometimes it is difficult to search when you have no idea what to search for.  I will be happy to help get you up to speed but you'll have to take it from there.

Re: Test Print

I am sure you have many calibration issues and since the WIKI is down you'll have to rely on the kindness of strangers wink
What printer do you have?
Have you calibrated your e-steps/mm?
What temps are you using?
What type filament?
Are you using Slic3r?
FYI  I'll be experiencing a several hour communication blackout today so if I don't respond I am not ignoring you.

Re: Test Print

lol I never worry about people ignoring me, im use to it. quite frankly the service here is better than at solidoodle lol im sure you are all aware lol

I am currently using standard abs from solidoodle that I got with purchase of the workbench. I started with the standard 100/10/10 and then slowed it down to 69/10/10 but saw no difference. I am also using standard temperatures.

Re: Test Print

Widespread, did you get my email sir?

Re: Test Print

I did, sorry, I don't usually check this forum until I get to work, we have our Solidoodle at our school. I'll print it off soon and let you know. I also have a Prusa i3 at home, so I can print it there when I get off and compare the two.

Re: Test Print

Ok, your design looks fine when I load it into RH. I'm printing it right now on our Workbench. Just a heads up our Workbench is far from printing perfect prints so this one will most likely have issues too, but we can compare them to see what you can adjust. Like Wardjr asked, are you using Slic3r? I assume you're using RH, is the correct? Have you done the calibration on your printer(steps/mm etc..)?

Also, what problems are you having with your prints? Can you post some pics? That would really help.

Re: Test Print

Other than our printers top fill issue, I think everything looks pretty good. Circles are a little imperfect but I'm adjusting that today. So let us know what you issues are and we can suggest appropriate remedies.

Re: Test Print

this is one I printed with standard settings 100/10/10 and standard heating. ive since printed one at 68/10/10 but see no significant difference. I will say yours is significantly better. so, to understand your statement, the lack of fill at the top is expected. how do I make mine look like yours? lol

Re: Test Print

I have no calibration if you can point me in the right direction of that also sad

Re: Test Print

Ok, this is going to be a process so just take it one step at a time. Also, I'm fairly new to this also, but I'll help as best as I can.

First can you explain what 100/10/10 means? Sorry if it's obvious.

Second we'll start with calibration.

Check your belts tension. Solidoodle's video can be found here: http://support.solidoodle.com/hc/en-us/ … Tensioning They are demonstrating on a different model but a lot of the information it usable. A youtube video found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YazR23Zn2xk uses a Workbench and has great info too.
Your printer looks like it's having troubles with circles and I believe that is because the pulley that the y motor belt runs to isn't lined up with the motor. This is demonstrated in the Solidoodle video at the end.

Calibrate your extruder and flow rate. I won't go into too much about these because I'm no expert but you'll want to do each of these to make sure the right amount of plastic is coming out of your extruder and in the right way.

As you go through these feel free to ask questions and I'm sure someone will have the answer if I don't.
