Re: Test Print

ward I apologize, I thought I id answer these questions! again, very apologetic! you guys have been very helpful in getting me started.
-I have the workbench
-I have not calibrated yet, I simply don't know how or where to find it. I  have found a few instructional videos and pictures about how the bead should look but not sure what the measurement should be between the extruder and the table. I do have feeler gauges so no major issue there, if someone knows the answer. I read earlier that is should be a business card. any truth to that?
-my temperatures are  215c for the extruder and 100c for the bed.
-currently I am still using the little piece of white abs that comes with the machine. I haven't received my actual rolls yet
-I am using slicer built in to RH

generally speaking, im trying to use everything as they sent it right now.

the current step I am using is some basic adjustments on the machine as the video states making sure everything is aligned correctly.

I truly hope this helps understand the situation.

and to both of you, thank you very very much for all the feed back. let me know what you guys come up with!
thanks again, gents!!

Re: Test Print

while im at it, every time I start RH I lse my com port and it resorts back to virtual port. any solution for that?

Re: Test Print

No problems here the first thing that is off is E Steps/mm change those in EEPROM (RH) to 105.  You should actually calibrate but that's about where you need to be.  Ignore my huge numbers in the picture.

The next setting is in Slec3r called extrusion multiplier and it should be about .8 but again you need to print a single perimeter 20mm cube with no infill or top and actually measure it then adjust until that wall equals .48 mm
Again ignore my numbers.

Re: Test Print

where did the answer go???

32

Re: Test Print

got it. it only shows up if my response is last. weird.

33

Re: Test Print

im freegin lost lol but not so lol

I just simply have no idea what you are talking about. sad

ahead of time, I great apologize if any of this sounds like im being a dick, im really not lol

34

Re: Test Print

alright look like I need to start over. for the record, my RH/slicer definitely looks considerably different than the one in your pictures. just a few of the icons and what not are different. im sure the program is the same.

so lets start over. how do I over come the "virtual" printer problem? I downloaded the driver every suggested and it worked but when I disconnected the computer or shut it down, it goes back to Virtual.

35

Re: Test Print

and I apologize for all the typos. that's what happens when I get frustrated lol

Re: Test Print

and gentleman, if its easier for you guys to answer these questions by giving me the link to the already existing thread of one of the topics, im all for ready them if its easier for you guys!

Re: Test Print

No worries plus the WIKI is back up so most of what you need can be found there.
Your virtual printer issue sounds a little buggy what version of RH are you running?
And yeah your screens will be different than mine as those pictures are old but still do the same things.

Re: Test Print

Try RH V 0.95f I am guessing that it switching back to virtual printer is a bug.
Also what version of Slic3r are you using?

Re: Test Print

honestly wardjr, im using what came with the machine. the slicer is kinda built into the rh. hope that makes sense

Re: Test Print

I understand and am asking you to be patient and let us help you.  Every software used is third party not something SD created.  So go to help in RH and click update or just go to the RH website and find version 95f it is similar enough to the one you have.  Then open Slic3r and do the same thing and update to 1.1.7
This important and will help you a lot.
Then all you do is direct RH to the new version of Slic3r.  We can get screen shots for you if needed.
I promise that if you follow the advice of the users here you will print successfully.  We all know how frustrating it can be but your hard work will pay off.

Re: Test Print

Just a quick note on this;

So go to help in RH and click update....

if he tries to update directly from RH, he will more than likely get V1.0.6 - same version I have. It seems to be pretty stable tho, I havent encountered any major issues with it, other than the old XP computer I am running it on doesnt have enough graphics resources to run the the filament visualizations while printing - solved simply by toggling the "eye" off

@ cf.noja47 - sit back, take a deep breath and let it out slowly - it will be ok. wink (and dont feel bad)

to get to the EEPROM screen:

at the top of RH click "Config" then select the "Marlin Firmware EEPROM Settings" - should be about the middle of the list.

If it is greyed out, and you cant actually click on it, there is a shortcut listed next to it - "Alt + E", i think...use that to open the settings screen - I had to use the shortcut the first time I tried to open it, since then it has been available to click on.

the one you want to change is the one that wardjr has highlighted in his screenshot above - top row, far right - it will probably read 138, change it to what was suggested (105) and click "Save to EEPROM"

If for some reason it doesnt work, or you get an error - dont panic. There is another way to change it.
I had a problem trying to change things directly in that screen for some reason, no idea why, so I only use it now to verify things were changed...

Disconnect RH, close it, then re-open and re-connect to clear out any errors.

The alternate method to change the steps/mm for the extruder is to type the following code in the G-Code box at the top of the manual tab in RH

M92 E105 <enter>
then
M500 <enter> to save it

You can then open the firmware settings screen to verify that the change has been made and saved.

Re: Test Print

Just a quick comment EEPROM in RH will only open if it is actually connected to the board.
