I haven't noticed any clicking around that part. The funny noise I had a hard time figuring out was the cable chain scrunching a bit against the foamboard case when the carriage moves left far enough.

Thanks Claghorn. I just finished the Y axis direct drive mod . I had to modify mount slightly due to size difference in the coupler I used. I had to add 10 mm to make mine fit .

That is a big coupler. I hope all this work helps your print quality as much as it did mine.
