Topic: XYZerocart Update + results of testing

I purchased the XYZerocart for my davinci 1.0, in hopes of freeing me from the need of purchasing XYZ filament, however I also did not want to void my warranty either.  I also did not want to downgrade my firmware from version 1.2.5.

I was successful.

I am happy to report the firmware 1.2.5 works perfectly with the xyzerocart.  I have set settings back and forth, and the davinci reads them all with no issues.  A few things of note however you might want to keep in mind.  First, I do not use xyzware, I use Simplify3d to communicate with the printer.  Therefore I have no worries about having xyz disable my printer as the Simplify software does not talk to XYZ at all. (Simplify3d is also a HUGE improvement and makes much better prints than the stock xyzware, its worth the investment)

I also found a great terminal program to communicate with the xyzerocart, its called quick terminal for android and runs right on my phone.  Quick easy and fast to set the filament length every so often.

All in all, I have not modified my printer at all yet I am free of XYZ's attempts to force me into their expensive filament.  Mission successful.....

That's great news. I wanted to do the same, but from all reports 1.2.3 would not work, so I downgraded to 1.1.J (not easy being a Mac user - needed to borrow a PC - but finally got it to work.)

I too managed to get a print done with other filament - grins all round.

However, since then, I repeatedly get "Cartridge error" showing up in Simplfy3D, and no print transfer/ start possible. The printer usually sees the data from XYZerocart correctly. Then it just seems to be pot luck of restarting printer, Mac, XYZerocart update refresh, before an upload works.

Has anyone seen the same?
Did the downgrade of the firmware not go well?, is the uSB cable bad, is XYzerocart faulty...??
Any tips welcome...

Start XYZware
Start Simply3D – Simplyfy3D will give you error in the Machine Control Panel “is there another application connected to this port?”
Close XYZware
Click connect in the machine control panel

BTW, I am using Windows 7 Pro, XYZerocart and firmware is 1.2.3

I got the cart error a lot as well.

The fastest way to fix for me was to start a demo print and cancel it as soon as it started heating up. I found that the error occurred when turning off the printer.
