Topic: Yet another e3d.

Solidoodle 3 e3d V6 upgrade.

Followed the step by step on this site after searching around for a few days. I must say it is pretty detailed up until entering hid_bootloader_cli -mmcu=at90usb1286 -w -v Marlin.cpp.hex took me a moment to figure out that I needed to put in the folder path for hid_bootloader then also after -v to make it work properly.

Here is where I am getting hung up. When I open the cmd and enter it I get the Waiting for Teensy device (press the reset button). Press it... nothing.... hold it down... nothing. Jumper wire is in place and instructions down to the t. What am I missing?

This printer has been a nightmare from day 1 along with the robo3d r1 (the robo will meet gasoline and a 55 gallon drum later this week).

Re: Yet another e3d.

Please dont light your robo on fire! Ill pay for shipping and take it off your hands, repair it or salvage parts from it. After that we would use it at the 3d printing club at my highschool. Just dont destroy your printer it is so wasteful.

Im terms of your issue with uploading firmware, try a new usb cable, make sure your board is connected, and try rebooting your computer.

Re: Yet another e3d.

I'll give another usb cable a try, I know it's connected as before I attempt to do anything I can connect to the printer via simplify3d or RH and control the printer. I'll give a new cable a try.

The reset button is where I was stuck at... instead of hitting a button is there a jump cable I can force a reset with?

*I may get ahold of you a bit later on the Robo wink

Re: Yet another e3d.

That is a Sanguinololu Board as stated on the board.  Follow those instructions on the WIKI and you will have no problems.
Basically make your changes in configuration.h>Verify>Save>Click Upload at the same time as hitting the reset button on the board.

Re: Yet another e3d.

On the board pictured, the connection of the power wires to the board was done very poorly.  You do not want that much exposed wire outside of the insulation.  It could cause heat build up and an eventual fire.  This is what killed my sang. board.

Not to mention there is enough exposed that if something caused that wire to flex downward it would cause a power to ground short in the power supply which could take it out and even cause a fire as was said.

Agreed, fix that before you have an accident!

Re: Yet another e3d.

If you want to be fancy, get some wire ferrules and a set of crimpers. They give you a nice, finished appearance to your wires when you put them in screw terminals and have insulated rims to help prevent shorts. Still, you're definitely at major risk until you take care of that.
