Topic: 3D printing software

Are there any other options out there as far as software for the DaVinci duo?

There seems to be a lot of limitations with this DaVinci software compared to what I have seen from other printers.

Anyone have any suggestions on anything different?

Re: 3D printing software

The only one I know of with direct control is Simplify3D but it's fairly expensive ($150).
There is custom firmware available (Repetier) for other Da Vinci models but not sure if it's possible to flash a Duo with it ??

Edit : Forgot about the xyzware openmod. That gives you a few more control options and also allows you to import gcode from other slicers.
Here's a link to the openmod ..... http://voltivo.com/forum/davinci-softwa … e-open-mod

You could always also replace motherboard with a 3rd party and get access to any 3d printing software.

I can't say enough good things about simplify 3d.   It actually uses all the processor cores when slicing.  I've used it in a 1.0a and 2.0

Re: 3D printing software

I am trying to do an initial setup with my 1.0 printer on my MAC but when I went to download the software from XYZ I got a reply "the code was not been tested and XYZ is not responsible for damage, you should back up your computer before downloading. Of course support is nonexistent, has anyone had trouble with the XYZ software damaging your computer?
