Topic: MK8 Gear settings Slic3r

Right guys just set my print up with the NeuStruder - Bowden Flexibles Exturder and needed to upgrade to the MK8 gear

Just wondering what setting people use for it I know some will change due to it being a smaller gear

Cheers

The only change you should need is to modify the steps per mm in the firmware. Slicer settings should remain the same.

Have you got the correct settings at hand or not? Or would I have to mess around with it

There is no correct setting. What you have to do is measure like 50mm of filament at the extruder input. Then command it to feed 50mm and see how close it is. If it falls short then add steps. If it is too much then remove steps.

The issue is there are variations in motors, the amount of pressure the idler applies and the softness of filament that affect the setting.

Re: MK8 Gear settings Slic3r

It's 100mm with the mk8. I have an mk9 and my steps per mm are around 111. For all extruders you measure the distance between the extruder feed entrance and the hotend. I have a longer neck that I added on my extruder. So his mk8 may have a shorter distance. But you get the idea. I think davinci stock may be 50mm as Carl stated. The reason you have to adjust this is because the gear on the mk8 is bigger than the davinci. If you use the davinci gear in your mk8 you will be near 50mm

New e steps = old e steps * (100/distance actually moved)
