Topic: Extruder issues - Clicking???

I have three daVinci printers. One has begun to give me a some problems lately and I cannot figure it out. It will begin a print, build about 1/4" high, then start clicking and no filament being extruded.
I use Sainsmart 3rd party filament with no issues in the other machines.
I calibrated the bed and tried using the stock XYZ filament to build the sample star vase and STILL would only build 1/4" high before failure.
I then tried the 3rd party filament at a higher temp (230) and got the same failure results.
What am I doing wrong, or are there any solution to fix this problem?

Clicking usually is:

Jams in nozzle
Heat to hotend not sufficient
extruder gear is full of filament bits and needs to be cleaned.
Gear and idler tension is too much (which is highly unlikely)

Sounds like your nozzle heater connector is bad like so many others have been. Just cut it out and replace it with bullet connectors.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

(i don't mean hijack) but i have an XYZ that will load filament just fine extrudes it out like nothing go to print nothing comes out.

Is your bed adjusted and too close to the nozzle? What does the temp read when it is not extruding?

i can easily see light under the print head, as for the temp 214c now the weird thing is i can see the little gears inside the extrude while printing they are not turning at all. if i touch the filament i do feel a little vibration but not tug. but when i go to load cart it pulls.

now it won't even load filament i think the extruder is gone.........

I had a similar issue yesterday. I fixed it by allowing the hot end to get to full temp and using one of those included thin wires. I inserted the wire up through the nozzle as far as I could push it and pushed against the resistance until the filament was able to flow again.

Turns out, there was some insulation fibers from when I had to cut my extruder connecter out caught in the filament tube. This
caused a blockage in the filament feed.

your extruder is not "gone" its so easy to fix them. Start problem solving. Does the gears turn when trying to load filament. Dont load filament just watch the gears. If they do not move open up extruder and check to see if gears move freely. Sounds like the stepper motor isn't working which could be wire related.
