Topic: started gathering parts for core xy

I went and did it, I ordered the first (no doubt of many) collection of parts (pulleys, idlers, belts) off ebay to start getting everything I need to build a core xy printer from scratch. The odds are very high that this just means I'll accumulate a lot of parts and never get around to having a working printer, but you never know :-). Should be more fun than merely modifying my SD2. Thought about building a delta because I love watching them in operation, but the core xy mechanism was even more appealing.

Sounds like fun even if all you end up with is a box full of parts wink

Printit Industries Model 8.10 fully enclosed CoreXY, Chamber heat
3-SD3's & a Workbench all fully enclosed, RH-Slic3r Win7pro, E3D V6, Volcano & Cyclops Hot End
SSR/500W AC Heated Glass Bed, Linear bearings on SS rods. Direct Drive Y-axis, BulldogXL
Thanks to all for your contributions

What do you plan to use for the drive system and frame?

Well, it isn't exactly fully planned or anything yet :-), but I'm leaning towards v-slot extrusions for the rails I want things rolling on, and cheaper t-slot for the parts that are just structural.
