Topic: Extruder wont heat up

Hi
My extruder on my sd3 is not heating up as fast as it used to.
I originally thought it was to power supply but after connecting the new psu it is doing the same.
The most recent things I have done were I Updated the firmware as I am in the process of upgrading to the e3d v6.
It heats up very unusual. I will attatch The temperature graph when I tried to heat up to 185 degrees although I stopped i a 164 to avoid it burning the pla in the barrel.

Other than being slow I really don't see anything unusual in that chart.  Get that E3d installed and don't look back wink

3-SD3's & a Workbench all fully enclosed, RH-Slic3r Win7pro, E3D V6, Volcano & Cyclops Hot End

Just waiting on a new heat cartridge for it and ill be ready to go.
It is heating up much slower though and the temperature can not be maintained for more than a minute when actually printing
Could it possibly be a firmware related problem

Re: Extruder wont heat up

Very unlikely to be a firmware issue my best guess would be a poor connection.  Even if the connections seem good they can restrict the amount of current to the cartridge itself.  Of course if this is the case there would be heat generated at the site of the poor connection.
Your temp chart is showing full output so the more I think about it, definitely not a firmware issue.

Re: Extruder wont heat up

Update
After ordering a new Heat cartridge and installing it it is working. I Either received a faulty one or I somehow broke it myself.
