Topic: Filament - ZeroCart
Thought I’d mention:
Using CoolTerm to make Zerocart settings.
Without downgrading firmware, the printer only recognizes max Length (Zerocart setting) of 240m.
The printer will use the last file saved to the Zerocart when you Load a new spool.
Setup three files in CoolTerm (using 1kg spool of Shaxon Black for this example):
240m Black_Shax
160m Black_Shax_Remainder
100m Mixed Shax
Now, when you load a new spool, you have Two choices:
1 - Load the filament and use the Last file set in Zerocart (assume it was the 240m). if your new spool or remainder of existing spool has less, than 240m, use your tracking log (you are logging it, right?) to determine how much remains.
Note, the amount used shown in the LCD is correct so you can subtract that from the amount you logged for the actual remaining amount.
Or,
2 - Load the filament and use the CoolTerm file “…Remainder” for the remaining amount.
But, If you do choice#2, you’ll need to reload the CoolTerm file for the full amount next time you load a full spool.
Hence, just stick with Choice#1. If you don’t care about the color the pinter thinks is loaded (and why would you, it has nothing to do with the print) well, you simply won’t ever need to mess with CoolTerm again!
A bonus: if you have a few meters of filament and/or, if you have colors you want to mix in a print, you can:
Load the filament and use the CoolTerm file “…Mixed”. (use the Mixed file so there won’t be subtractions from the 240m or 160m files). You can print as much or as little of your shorter lengths but, the best part is, you can clean-cut the current filament and Chase it with a different color while printing without Unloading or Loading. Just be sure to Chase it without a gap between the different filaments until it starts feeding by itself - No Dual extruder needed for multi-colored parts!
