Topic: Help with Da Vinci 1.0 being recognized on macbook pro....

Hey guys, new to the forum and to the world of 3d Printing. I have been reading for a long while, just had my Da vinci 1.0 delivered today. Well after fixing the issue with the home sensor being to close and printing out a test print (flawless btw). I am having a ton of issues with getting XYZWare to actually recognize my Da vinci printer? If i unplug the USB i get a notification that tells me my usbmodem411 was disconnected or connected to your computer (from XYZWare) but when i am in the software, the 'print' icon is completely grayed out and I cannot pull any serial # info or anything at all related to my 1.0.

Any help guys? Am i missing a driver or something for mac? I am using a Macbook Pro - 2008 model, however I can try to install it on a 2011 macbook air or a windows 8.1 laptop. I just prefer to use the macbook pro for all 3d printing stuff as this is where my autodesk software is installed.

Thanks in Advance for all of your help guys!

Dominic

Are you using the disk it came with? If so go to their site and get a more recent version. Also dig around here a bit. There have been many post on this same topic.

Re: Help with Da Vinci 1.0 being recognized on macbook pro....

I ran the XYZ software on my mac - it never did display the serial number but I never had a problem printing.
I assume you tried to print one of the demo's (?)  And, first you need to 'Export' (unless you're printing a demo right from the LCD panel), then you should be able to print.
The machine won't print models that it can't slice and you won't necessarily get a warning/info pop-up - so, try one of the demo prints (they're already sliced and gcoded).

Mac OSX ElCapitan
Prusa i3 (two built from kits), 1 hacked DaVinci
Solidworks for models, Netfabb to repair, Repetier/Slic3r and Simplify3D

I see, perhaps this is my issue - I did print a test print, however, I did so from the LCD panel. I downloaded a second print from Thingiverse, but i just dropped the .stl file into XYZWare and tried to print - I am assuming this is the messup. When I plugin / plugout the printer it most definitely pops up the notification regarding the port.

I will try do to this tdd

In case anyone else has this same problem (print button greyed out) There is a hotfix for MAC users the link can be found here:

http://xyzware.linzh.tw/beta/mac/tmp/XY … Hotfix.dmg

Uninstall the current version os XYZWare and use this to reinstall - problem solved.

Thanks anyways guys!
