Topic: E3D Ripples

Hello, I recently put on an E3D hot end onto my Solidoodle 2. It has the rev e motherboard. I used the first reddit instructions on google (couldnt post a link sorry) for updating the firmware. Everything seems to be working well except all my prints have large ripples throughout them on the edges. I have tried re calibrating the extruder (steps per mm and extrusion multiplier) and adjusting the trim pot. I don't see any slippage from the set screws on my printer either. I can't seem to find any other suggestions to try to fix this problem. Please help! Thanks

Do these steps ring any bells?
Make sure you flashed the firmware properly.
Since we don't have any pics to go by, I am guessing bad filament or moire.

With no pictures to see I am only guessing that I had the  same problem after I installed my E3D V6. Azerate hit the nail on the head when he suggested it was  "moire" caused by not setting the stepper driver for the extruder  high enough  a little tweaking and my prints look good now .  Thanks again Azerate.

If this is the case, remember 2 things:
1) Use a non-conductive screwdriver like a ceramic one. You do not want to fry a stepper driver, especially if it is on a Printrboard.
2) 1/16 of a turn will produce drastic results.

Yes, those steps were the ones I used. Solved the problem this morning, bad filament. Thanks for the help guys. Prints are coming out smooth as ever now.
