Topic: Extruder not unloading because not heating up

Hey guys,

Ok so here is my problem.

My DaVinci Printer AIO doesn't heat up when I try to unload filament but it does heat up when I do a nozzle cleaning so the heating functions still well.

If it's heated up and I quickly change to unload filament in the hopes of it still being hot enough, it cools down until it's completely cold.

I can't load any filament as it says that all my cartridges are not loaded. This issue is working on my nerves and I'm hoping there is some bright mind on this forum that has an easy solution for this.

Well thanks in advance.

Ignace

Instead of using the unload feature, do the loading instead.  As soon as it's done extruding material, pull back on the spring loaded lever and pull the filament out by hand.

Re: Extruder not unloading because not heating up

Have you tried the auto heat in your settings I think it will heat the extruder up to 185c but it seems to me that it may be a defect. What firmware do you have on the printer right now?

Da Vinci  AiO with firmware 1.1.1 using xyzscan 1.1.18
E3Dv6 hotend with custom carriage with Borosilicate glass bed
123D Design and Simplify3D, Replaced PS with a Solidgear Flex320
Zerokart resetter,  Installed a Extruder Controller for higher temps

@evanalmight it doesn't load as it says all my cartridges aren't loaded, it's probably because of that problem with the extruder. Not sure.

@kev0175, I'll check the firmware asap

The system version 1.1.4 but I don't think it's a firmware issue

You can try this, it may not work but sometimes when my printer acts a little weird I will turn it off hold the up and down button turn it on and that with bring up the boot loader  I will wait a while then turn it off then back on again but like I said it may not help.

I don't know if a resetter will help the cartridges

Re: Extruder not unloading because not heating up

I have mine on autoheat,, then it works and unloads... it is a firmware glitch and I think there's a fix, but I don't trust any downloads from XYZ so I just deal with it.. Also, I should add that mine isn't a 1aio,,, only a 1.a.

Re: Extruder not unloading because not heating up

Had the same problem yesterday or the first time - here's what I did:
Although the Unload didn't heat the extruder, the Load Cartridge did so, I cut the old filament and selected Load Cartridge.
I chased the remaining old filament with new filament (meaning, I just followed the old with the new).
Then, I pressed the <- arrow to Load again at the prompt asking if the filament came out of the nozzle and repeated once more until the new filament feed.
It worked.

Mac OSX ElCapitan
Prusa i3 (two built from kits), 1 hacked DaVinci
Solidworks for models, Netfabb to repair, Repetier/Slic3r and Simplify3D

Load didn't work for me either

Re: Extruder not unloading because not heating up

I'm thinking its the cartridges, if you can reset the cartridge it should work and if it doesn't I'm thinking firmware glitch.

Also did you block the xyz.exe

Re: Extruder not unloading because not heating up

just had this same problem where it wouldn't heat up during unload and the cartridge shows as not present when you do a "load cartridge" - had to take the cartridge out (leaving the filament in), then clean the contacts on the cartridge and reseat it, after that it recognised.

Super - You saved my day :-) I´ve bought one Davinci Duo on ebay without cartrigdes - and he reports me error 0012, as I´ve tried to unload the filament, without heating up. The "AUTO HEAT" Function goes very well instaed = no hardware issue :-)

Thanks a lot + God bless you!
