Topic: E3D Upgrade Complete, Heat Bed Really Struggling

Hi all,

First I just wanted to thank everyone for all the info they've put up to help with these kinds of upgrades.

But now that I have my E3D hot end installed, my heated bed is taking forever to get up to temp. My question is this because of my power supply itself (see pic) or did I do something in the firmware flash that is causing this? With the wiki being down, I wasn't sure which firmware files were the best to use, so I just searched github.

This is how the firmware currently reads in regards to the power supply. Does it matter? (My setup is a Solidoodle 3 w/ Printrboard)

//// The following define selects which power supply you have. Please choose the one that matches your setup
// 1 = ATX
// 2 = X-Box 360 203Watts (the blue wire connected to PS_ON and the red wire to VCC)

#define POWER_SUPPLY 1

Hi Pakiii     I did the E3D upgrade a little while ago . The new heater pulled 3 times  the current of the original . Original was 1 amp new 1   3.4 amps . you are  probably maxing out the power supply .

SD3, RAMPS 1.4, Lawsy's carriages modified by me, 2 SSRs, E3D V6, 2 Power supplies, Independent monitoring of both power supplies (amps and volts) also extruder and bed temps, Blue Tooth connectivity, bearings in all axis & rotational points, Y axis direct drive.  Remotely controlled power box on / off . Gecko Tec build plate . Renamed FrankenDoodle

It whold have no bearing on your bed heater but that's the one to use.
An upgrade to your PSU is a good idea if your having heat up issues.
