Topic: Filament dragged around after 2 layer

So I have done everything I could find on here.  The hairspray.  The sanding of the glass.  The acetone with filament dissolved in it.  A combo of all three...and nothing works.  It will start its print and about layer 2 or 2.5, the whole thing comes unstuck from the printbed and after being dragged across the table for a little while, the filament starts to pool in a hardened mess and binds the print to the extruder.  I am using a brand new Workbench.  This is our first 3-D printer and I am having a hell of a time figuring out what is wrong.  You folks have been awesome on here for the other little issues so I am hoping you can shine some light on this one.  I know nothing about this stuff so if you can explain it for a 3 year old to understand I should be good to go:-).

Thanks-

Re: Filament dragged around after 2 layer

My bet is your Z height. You want the first layer to be fat and flat like a ribbon. Glass and hairspray is a great way to achieve adhesion, but Aquanet extra hold is best IMO

Shot in the dark..have you adjust the VREF for the Z?

Re: Filament dragged around after 2 layer

The Temperature for the printbed is 105 Celsius.

"have you adjust the VREF for the Z?"

I am not sure what that it is, but I have just done all the initial codes Solidoodle had me do for the initial config of the Bed.  I have had to bring the table up during the initial trouble shoot where I had to put a card between the extruder and the printbed via the Solidoodle video.

And my first layer is just a thin string like everything else.  How does one go about changing the VRef for the Z?

Thank you for helping!

Re: Filament dragged around after 2 layer

If the first layer is just a thin strand then you need to adjust the height. Nevermind VREF for now.

Re: Filament dragged around after 2 layer

do I adjust the whole bed up a little higher--with like a pair of pliers?

\I did this previous http://wiki.solidoodle.com/leveling-the-print-bed.  But still having the same problem.  I did try just not pushing the probe down all the way but that just makes it print off the bed or does the same thing, where after the first initial layer or two and everything looks good it either goes off and starts printing off on its own or drags the filament around.  I have yet to get past the 3rd layer on any print.
