Topic: Extruder temperature limited to 230 degrees C in Davinci 1.0A

Esun filament operates from 220 to 260 degrees C according to the box.
The esun filament is wound into the original XYZ printing cartridge.

By reprogramming the cartridge eeprom I tried increasing the temperature of the extruder to 245, then 240 then 235.

None of these temperature settings worked - the extruder started at a high temperature with auto heat and gradually the extruder temperature went down to ambient.
The only temperature that worked was 230 degrees C, the readings on the XYZ ware panel showed 236 degrees C.

FW version is 1.0.1 and XYZ Ware is 1.1.32.1

Is the FW limiting the temperature to 230 degrees C?

Has anyone succeeded in getting higher than 230 degrees C with stock software?

I regularly run my 1.0 machine (firmware 1.2.3) at 245

I have the same issue I have the AIO with firmware 1.1.1 using Simplify3D with xyzerocart and still can't get past 230c......... it looks like it is indeed in the firmware.

Da Vinci  AiO with firmware 1.1.1 using xyzscan 1.1.18
E3Dv6 hotend with custom carriage with Borosilicate glass bed
123D Design and Simplify3D, Replaced PS with a Solidgear Flex320
Zerokart resetter,  Installed a Extruder Controller for higher temps

Re: Extruder temperature limited to 230 degrees C in Davinci 1.0A

It's limited because higher temps can damage the sub par head they made this machine with.. If you want to print at higher temps you will need to install Repetier firmware and then you risk damaging your head unless you change it out as well.

I also have tried running ABS at 235 on the stock head and get jams like crazy. The kind you have to soak the head in Acetone for several days to remove. 235 and higher over heats the ABS in the nozzle area and causes it to harden.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

@carl_m1968    Thanks - that makes a lot of sense. It'll mean using ABS with lower temperature than or equal to 230 degrees C .

Are you using xyzware also, I'm trying to figure out how firmware 1.2.3 is letting you go past 230c

I am printing the Esun filament happily at 210c I have tried 220c for thin low density pieces to improve adhesion but at that temp the quality is not as good.
Different colours also print differently 210 works great on black, red, yellow
White seems to be the hardest to get a nice quality print, it seems to like the temp a bit lower.  I have printed white at 205c

Gonna disagree with you there.  I'm on repetier and found the inland(rebranded esun) printed best for me at 235.  I did take it up to 250.  I printed pteg is with the stock end at 240 worked best for me.

Never had a jam with abs but did have some extruder clicking on long prints with the petg.

It depends on the brand. Shaxon will cook at 235. My statement was more of a caution, so disagree if you want. I had it happen twice now and had to take the think apart to get all of the hard filament out. It was a royal pain that I would not even wish upon those who disagree with me. Maybe you are just lucky or I am unlucky. In either case it was a warning to those who insist to remain stock they could have issues above 230.
