Topic: Motors not moving??

I recently had a HD failure. My solidoodle 2 worked fine before but after I got a new HD and re-installed Repetier-Host Solidoodle V0.85b its not working. It connects OK the heaters seem to work but none of the motors do. I can't home, jog or extrude. Is this some easy fix?

Re: Motors not moving??

It was an easy fix.  In the settings it was set to "virtual printer". I changed that to the correct com port and it started working.

Re: Motors not moving??

Attached is a photo of my mess of a machine.
I've just upgraded it to an E3D-V6 hot end.
Put everything back together, plugged everything in.

I can home all 3 axes.
I can not move x, y or z axes in any other way hmm

I've checked all the wiring & it seems fine.
Any suggestions?

Re: Motors not moving??

Well, that sorts that one out.
Just as I clicked 'submit reply' I thought I'd have a look at the log in Repetier-Host.

I have a laptop dedicated to printing & it's screen isn't that big so the log is usually hidden.
I didn't even think of checking it when I had a problem.

Turns out that it's throwing errors due to not having the hot end thermistor attached.
I managed to break it whilst fitting the V6 & it's replacement should arrive within a couple of days.

It never occurred to me that the printer would need the thermistor to be able to move...
