Topic: I may have broken my RUMBA... Got my fingers crossed

Long story short, my computer fell and the usb cable ripped off the usb port on the RUMBA...
Here are some pictures:

Is there anyway I can fix this? There are 4 open spots that are in a box labeled USB right by the usb port area, so I think I can solder something there, but I have no idea what to do.

Re: I may have broken my RUMBA... Got my fingers crossed

The RUMBA has a COM1 port which can be substituted for the USB port, you just need a 4 pin molex. Use one of the motor cables that came with the RUMBA and splice it into a USB cable. The rumba wiki has the details on the port and how to wire it up:

The color coding can be found here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#Pinouts
(Vcc = Vbus, mass=GND)

Just make sure you match up everything correctly or you could fry the rumba

Yup. Check you get the 5V and GND around the right way (multimeter!), D+/D- while more confusing is also less of a hazard haha.

I've soldered a usb cable straight into those 4 pins on mine (came without a header), for fixed installation into the RPi. Works a charm.

I marked which was which with blue tape and the corresponding signal written the piece of tape. In my paranoia, I proabably rechecked about 7 times.
