Topic: Extruder in the E3Dv6 video?

At the start of the promo video for the E3Dv6 on filastruder.com there is what looks like a really wonderful direct drive extruder that would be perfect for flexible filament in particular. Anyone know if the design files for that extruder are available anywhere? I might be interested in trying to adapt it for my SD2. Here's the video link:

Are you talking about 0:04 in the video?

Anyway, I've printed a lot of ninjaflex on the lawsy extruder and the V6.  They key is to get the PTFE VERY close to the hobbed gear.  I cut a tip into mine so that it is barely just a hair's width away from the hobbing so it has nowhere it can go but down into the tube.  Really take some time and get this tight and you can print flexible filaments all day long without issue on a lawsy solidoodle extruder.  Also, tighten down the tension arm quite a bit. 

Not saying this is the only way to do it but I can print ninjaflex at 30 mm/s, which is the fastest recommended by the manufacturer.  I haven't tried going faster yet, but I am actually optimistic.

Yep, right at the very beginning. I like the way the PTFE is supported by the extruder body all the way up to the gear. (Presumably there are more bits that are visible in the video, mind you :-).

The PTFE is part of the e3d v6, so you can achieve the Same thing with a v6 + mk5.

I saw an extruder for ninjaflex on thingiverse designed for the Solidoodle + lawsy carriages as well. If I recall it supports the tube much higher.

What jago said. There's no reason to support the PTFE. A Lawsy MK5 and E3Dv6 will do flexibles just fine.

I've been away from printing and the forums for a couple months. Apx when did v6 come out? Looks like a nice upgrade from my v4, and I love my v4.

E3D-v4 Hotend, MK5 carriage with round plastic wire conduit , 3/16" tempered glass,  Well nut, SureStepr SD8825 1/32 Extruder Driver, PowerEdge 2650 500W PS, QU-BD heated bed, circuit board fan, hinged plexiglass enclosure with plastic tray top. Other than that mostly stock SD3

v6 was released in May of 2014.
