Re: Is this all backlash or am I missing something else?

Something else popped up in my question for answers.. Pull from the filament spool being too taunt.

Mmm, indeed, AZERATE. I've switched to the experimental Slic3r, I'll be doing another 10 hour print later today.

Re: Is this all backlash or am I missing something else?

3000 mm/s^2 seems awfully fast. I use 1000mm/s^2 myself which is the Marlin default. I experience ringing but not as significant as I see in your prints. Running external perimeters slower helps quite a bit with it, also. How fast do you print them? For a nice finish I find 40mm/s to be fine. The faster you go, the more inertia you have to bring to a stop.

Re: Is this all backlash or am I missing something else?

Not sure if this will help, but I have this in my custom gcode:

M201 X1000 Y1000; // max accel print
M202 X1000 Y1000; // max accel travel
M204 S1000; // default accel for normal move

SD2 - Stock - Enclosure - Heated Bed - Glass Plate - Auto Fire Extinguisher
Ord Bot Hadron - RAMPS 1.4 - Bulldog XL - E3D v6 - 10" x 10" PCB Heated Build w/SSR - Glass Plate
Thanks for All of Your Help!

Re: Is this all backlash or am I missing something else?

Right, I'll turn it down to 1000. I assume it was at 3000 because thats what Adrian set it as in the firmware he wrote for me... But I could be wrong.  That said, isn't the OrdBot meant to be able to do super fast acceleration?

Re: Is this all backlash or am I missing something else?

I use 500 as my maximum acceleration in all possible acceleration settings except z at 100 and I haven't had any problems with ringing for a while now. Just for reference, my max speed is about 60 but I'm thinking about bumping that up soon.

SD3, RUMBA, 360W power, ABS: Glass bed + Aquanet Extra Super Hold Hairspray, Anti-backlash Z spanner, Repetier Host + Slic3r

Re: Is this all backlash or am I missing something else?

Well the accel change made things a little prettier, and happily less noisey sitting next to my head on the other desk... But didn't fix the issue at all. Seems that downwards was the wrong way for the extrusion multiplier. And support is still being weird.
So. Tomorrow we'll be back to the part in the first pix. O_O
