Topic: problems with solidoodle brand filament

Greetings,
I recently bought a roll of Solidoodle brand filament but have run into a lot of problems. I have yet to get a successful print because the filament will tangle and throw off the printing..
This is my third roll of Solidoodle brand filament and never ran into this problem. Only difference I see is this roll is the wider, shorter roll instead of my usual longer roll that I got.

So yeah the problem is that for some reason the filament becomes more twisted over time and causes it to tangle and bird nest up and prevents printing. I have to kill the job and counter twist the spool to get rid of the tangle but just happens about an hour into printing again.

Is this normal for these kinds of spools?

I bought this from bestbuy. My other spools actually had a solidoodle sticker on it but this spool does not. Does all solidoodle products have their sticker on it?

Re: problems with solidoodle brand filament

My advice is to not get suckered into buying solidoodle brand filament, from best buy or elsewhere.  No, this is not normal and not acceptable.  Filament should come off the roll free of tangles.  I would either get an empty spool and manually transfer it to that, which would be a real hassle, or just go buy a spool of Octave filament from Amazon.  I've printed 10+ spools of that without a tangle issue.

Re: problems with solidoodle brand filament

I was having this issue with MatterHackerz brand filament I ended up printing a guide that snaps to my PVC on the sides of the spool as to not let it jump off the spool. Never recieved the roll i bought from SD with my printer.

Re: problems with solidoodle brand filament

i lay a piece of towel over my roll attached to the printer make sure the towel hangs over each side of the roll, and over the back of the roll far enough to weigh down on the roll, which will keep the filament on the roll and it also keeps the dust off the roll.
