Topic: Extruder not heating when unloading cart

When I choose to unload cart, the extruder is not heating up--stays at 10 degrees. The only way I can unload cart is to do a "clean head" first to heat up, then choose unload. I know the extruder heating works in other modes and the printers prints great, so is this a software issue?

Since that function is controlled by the LCD, that would make it a firmware issue and would require the firmware to be reflashed or updated. It is also possible that the button used for that function may not work either. I no longer urn stock, so I don't remember which button is used to tell it to unload and if you use that button at any other time on stock.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

I also saw that and believe that it caused my nasty jam. I now always start with Load, then, Unload. XYZ says that it cools to 150°C during an Unload cycle, but, I think it just assumes that it was 210.

Re: Extruder not heating when unloading cart

Hello ( sorry for my bad english, I'm french )
I have the same problem. Impossible to unload : the extruder stays at 10 degrees, and after I have an error code (issue 011).
But the extruder is heating well in all other modes and prints well !
My DaVinci is a new machine, bought last month.
I tried to contact the support team, I'm waiting for theiranswer.
Maybe you could help me ?
Thanks

Re: Extruder not heating when unloading cart

The support usually do not help as expected. I have the same issue. I select build sample, wait to heat, when the extruder get the right temp, I abort the operation and unload it.

Re: Extruder not heating when unloading cart

They issued a hotfix, though I haven't tried it yet.. I usually turn auto heat on and then it seems to work after it heats up..

Re: Extruder not heating when unloading cart

Thanks for your answers. I will try as you said to solve my unloading problem.
...(   and still no news from the DaVinci support...)

Re: Extruder not heating when unloading cart

I believe that error 011 means that the electrical connection to the extruder heater is broken.

It is the small black connector on top of the extruder head with two white wires. Most people have removed the connector and soldered the wires together to prevent the break in connection.

Here is the Youtube video that shows the fix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyn6TOs … mp;index=8

Arduino cartridge resetter and after-market ABS filament

Re: Extruder not heating when unloading cart

Hello,

Zero Cool here. I'm new to the forum. I have a brand new 1.0A that has the unloading issue. I contacted XYZ support and they were very very responsive. they had me download the 1.1.34.8 software but every time I try and upgrade the firmware, I get an error that says the service is unavailable??? It says I have firmware 1.0.3

I had that problem from day one so it must be a xyz firmware bug.

I would select one of the demos to print just long enough to get the extruder going and then cancel it and then go back to unload.

With Repetier that problem no longer exists.
