Topic: Bottom out Z axis and unable to get it to come back up

I was lowering the Z axis so i could get at the printer head, but i lowered it too much and of course there is no Z axis switch to tell it to stop. When i go to printer config and try to change the Z axis with the controls, it wont move, it will only try to go down if i tell it to. The only time i can get it to move up is in the Z calibration, but even then, it continues to grind.

Sounds like an end stop issue to me.

Also try and avoid the multiple listings of posts.  I don't know if you clicked too many times but this showed up 5 times as the same topic.
If it wasn't anything on your end that caused this let me know.

I had the same problems just turn the screw by hand. It took some work but I eventually got it so it turned under power.

Re: Bottom out Z axis and unable to get it to come back up

This is Prolly due to the z-axis floating. You might have gone too far for the thread as I believe I read one user has his bed fall off/had terrible jumping on the z-axis and found the z-axis free floating. So just try lifting it and spinning out by hand. It should catch and then be able to be driven up the rest of the way

Best of luck

Re: Bottom out Z axis and unable to get it to come back up

I opened Repetier and i was able to move the bed up with it. Soliprint was at fault here. What would help is adding an endstop button to the bottom of the z axis too... Probably too much to ask for. And yes, i clicked a few times and no response was given. Sorry for the multiple posts.

Isn't there a endstop at the bottom of the Z-axis?  If not, what's the microswitch down there for?

This occurs because of the bundled wire-loom getting in the way while the extruder head begins its initialization routine prior to a new print.  What is "supposed to happen" during this process is the extruder head moves to the front-left corner and hugs the left rail as it moves straight to the rear-left corner.  Along the way the z-probe arm passes through a channel-catch which engages the probe downward and ready to wait for the bed to click.  Good times go bad when something gets in the way and interferes during this critical moment in which the z-probe must be triggered.  The wiring-loom is the culprit that jams between the print head and the sidewall.  This is one of the several things I modified in order to correct the problem moving forward.  It will also jam during your prints as well.

To raise the extruder (lower the bed) you need to first:
Relaunch SoliPrint > select your Printer from the COM Port drop-down > load any .STL file you find > now go click the top button on your Press.
The bed will lower a few centimeters and the extruder will Home itself; each subsequent click of the button will continue to lower the bed further.
