Topic: Firmware update help needed

Is there any way to update the firmware other than the method generally provided?

I have gone through the steps four times now to no avail.

At what point do the instructions fail you, and what error(s) are you experiencing?

We aren't mind readers here!

Re: Firmware update help needed

What step are you skipping?  There is only one way to flash that board.  Although it is a cumbersome procedure it works.  Do you have the correct board selected?  Are you (instead of clicking "Upload") using a CMD screen to upload?  Are you jumping the boot pins on the board?
There are any number of steps that could be missed so if there is anything I can help with let me know.

Printit Industries Model 8.10 fully enclosed CoreXY, Chamber heat
3-SD3's & a Workbench all fully enclosed, RH-Slic3r Win7pro, E3D V6, Volcano & Cyclops Hot End
SSR/500W AC Heated Glass Bed, Linear bearings on SS rods. Direct Drive Y-axis, BulldogXL
Thanks to all for your contributions

Re: Firmware update help needed

I don't think that I am skipping anything.  Everything works perfectly expect for the fact that when I reconnect with RH it shows no difference.

I have the Rev - E board, are the instructions you gave me for that board or another?

Re: Firmware update help needed

I guess to sum up, I am not receiving any errors, everything goes according to the instructions however no changes have been made to the firmware.

Is there a way for me to access the firmware on the device and read directly from it to see if changes are being made?

What instructions are you following?
This thread has helped out quite a few.

Can you explain your troubles in a little more detail?

Printit Mason and Printit Horizon printers
Multiple SD2s- Bulldog XL, E3D v5/v6/Lite6, Volcano, Hobb Goblin, Titan, .9 motor, Lawsy carriages, direct Y drive, fishing line...the list goes on
Filawinder and Filastruder #1870.....worth every penny!

Re: Firmware update help needed

I appreciate the instructions Azerate but those were the instructions that I followed to the letter four times with no errors.  I do some Arduino builds so I am comfortable with the IDE, etc.

The ONLY thing that I did differently was to keep the Soliddoodle_VERSION at 2 instead of changing it to three.

Re: Firmware update help needed

You keep it at SD2 but it sounds like you are not getting it saved to the correct location.  Those instructions are for the rev e and I have flashed many of them following those instructions.
What board are you selecting in arduino?

Printit Industries Model 8.10 fully enclosed CoreXY, Chamber heat
3-SD3's & a Workbench all fully enclosed, RH-Slic3r Win7pro, E3D V6, Volcano & Cyclops Hot End

Re: Firmware update help needed

I hate to do this but it looks like I have been updating the firmware all the time.  I went in and noticed in the firmware Cpp code that there is a line telling it to show the github respository only if it is a certain type of board.  So I modified the  FIRMWARE_URL stinrg to http://www.mendel-parts.com/stuff and that is what showed up in RH.

So, to sum up, apparently I am uploading the firmware correctly but my temperature issue is due to something else.

On the plus side, I can upload firmware to the SD2 in my sleep now.

Re: Firmware update help needed

Well I very much appreciate everyone's help.  I am going through the temperature problem in this thread: http://www.soliforum.com/topic/9591/tem … pping-out/
