Topic: Delamination
I bought my printer to print enclosures. Up till now all prints (small) were acceptable, nothing too big. I designed my first enclosure. It is a box 170x105x105 with 3mm walls and a 5mm thick floor. There are a few holes in the design to allow mounting things. I printed it with the "good" profile" but increased the fill to 30%. I used supports (to get good holes) and a raft as the first try didn't adhere properly to the bed - No glue used either. I am using XYZPrinting natural fibre. I overdid the glue a bit I think on the second try. The print was about 14 hours.
It is hot here (at least 30C during the print time) and the printer is located in a closed un-airconditioned room, but a window is open to the outside. There are no drafts in the room. The room is closed to keep the smell in one place. From time to time I looked in on the print. This may have changed the room temperature.
When complete I had some trouble removing the print from the bed. (Too much glue I suspect), I then noticed there were delaminations up the print at the corners. In the removal I could hear cracking noises. The gaps were quite large - 1 mm wide and quite long 30mm for the worst of them.
I have read extensively that delamination is a problem with ABS especially for box shaped objects.
Has anyone got a solution for the XYZ for this problem?
Regards, Fred.
