Topic: Does one need to flash the board if

They get a volcano hot end?
Also how does that work with slic3r. All I've seen is .4 mm as being the highest

Flash firmware? Nope!
Play with the settings a bit? Yup!

If you have already installed the E3D v5/v6, and you have flashed the firmware for that already, then the Volcano is a plug and play.

What about the .4 mm being the highest it lets you do? Double the multiplier?

Firmware has nothing to do with that.  Change it in Slic3r and your good.

My volcano hot end will be here Monday. Can't wait to run some prints with it. But I'm still curious about what settings I need to change in slic3r
