Topic: Jsut got my Press, trying to calibrate but filament bunches up
Any idea? It seems to just stick to the extruder. Also it does some grinding here and there when it tries to move.

Video? Photos? These are new, so you have to provide something to help out the experts here ( not me 
) figure out what might be wrong.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong, I was trying to watch the action so I had all the doors open, is it best practice to keep everything closed ?

For ABS, yes you want a closed area to keep the chamber warm so that the ABS will not delaminate from the previous layers.

So being a newbie to this-----its strictly a heat issue---not an extruder issue?
I mean if the filament is coming out than extruder is working right?
Then its either the temp of the chamber or the heat of the glass thats causing the bunching?

Do I jack up my bed temp?
Its definitely not plug & play. I would 've preferred a better manual explaining more---things I'm learning here on the forums.
Any tips would be appreciated.

Two possible probelms:
1. Not sticking to the glass: One thing they don't tell you is that the ABS doesn't stick to the glass very well. Get a glue stick (or hairsprary or painter's tape) and coat the glass prior to running the print. I prefer the glue stick. I put a thin coat on right before printing and it is still tacky enough to cause the first layer to stick when it starts printing. I suspect that's the problem here.
2. Extruder slightly too high. In Soliprint 1.1.1, look for the Z-offset calibration and run that to fine-tune the height. If you're a little too high, the first layer won't stick to the glass and will bunch up like this.

If you use hair spray for helping the filament stick to the bed just beware that most don't appear to work. At least that's my experience in australia. The only one that seems to work is a very expensive redkin one. UHU glue stick is a lot cheaper but harder to apply.
