Topic: SOLVED-SD4 extruder problems kind of

Okay so I cancelled order w SD cause they were giving me runaround...found one used for week in bronx ordered yesterday came today...everything works great had to adjust belt but nonbiggie...main thing is as i had RH on and moving things to make sure it worked extruder didnt feed or reverse. Took panel off got to MOBO swapped extruder plug for diff spot in board such as Z and it works, so motor is fine seems board isnt, because when Z is plugged into E spot that doesnt work, yet when in Z it does...any suggestions...Inwas planning on peinting out upgrades w this board than installing RUMBA i have, looks like i may have to just do RUMBA right off bat. Thanks

Mike

Re: SOLVED-SD4 extruder problems kind of

Perhaps the wires have a short somewhere. Try moving the wires as you command it to extrude 100mm.

Re: SOLVED-SD4 extruder problems kind of

I just have zero clue what to do w the SD's two wires and the 3 pins and 3 wired plug that RUMBA comes with...pics would even just work of board and printer itself ill be able to just trace em and see whats going where for everything.

Re: SOLVED-SD4 extruder problems kind of

Since you haven't even gotten a print yet I won't leave you guessing on this little subtlety. There are 2

1. Your fans go in FAN1, not FAN0
2. Jump the - and S pins of X-, Y-, and Z+.

If you want to know why I can explain but let's just get you running.

13

Re: SOLVED-SD4 extruder problems kind of

I was just going to ask what gets the connector the - ir pluse...i can jump em w the jumpers from non used driver jumpers i assume?

Re: SOLVED-SD4 extruder problems kind of

And thanks a ton man

Re: SOLVED-SD4 extruder problems kind of

Oh!! One more detail. The extruder motor needs to be hooked up in reverse. Not sure if this was mentioned. Otherwise extrude will retract.

Re: SOLVED-SD4 extruder problems kind of

Alright so all is hooked up, fans and lights work...I uploaded that config file that i posted other day( w usb and power hooked up) said wrote it fine but motors wont work through RH nada...hmmm

Re: SOLVED-SD4 extruder problems kind of

Most likely just a settings in R-H issue.  Check for correct com port and make sure you don't have virtual printer selected.
If on the manual control screen it says X Command Waiting than it is not connected.

Re: SOLVED-SD4 extruder problems kind of

HB in and out only runs the bed heater so it should have no impact on motor movement.
I think you have no connection to the board.  Check the device manager for connection.
