Re: Solidoodle Workbench Apprentice bad out of the box

where did that gcode come from? never seen infill that wide. sounds like an extruder is growling due to that.

which motor is making the noise in videos?

the filament going in is only 1.75 so it cant flow that fast

Re: Solidoodle Workbench Apprentice bad out of the box

It's grinding because the Z platform keeps hitting on the extruders I offset the Z to six and it helps but when I start to print the switch touches on the plastic smears around

Re: Solidoodle Workbench Apprentice bad out of the box

Solidoodle ships their printers in the "home" position, so for previous models it was common to bend the metal to make the switch work. If you look at the X and Y endstops, you will see what I mean. I had to do this on mine and spent a few days before I realized what was going on. So the question becomes, is there something that needs to be adjusted on that switch? I don't know how it works, though, but I'd guess it's a related problem from sitting in the homed position for an extended period.

Re: Solidoodle Workbench Apprentice bad out of the box

So the question is, did they intentionally remove the tab from that switch or did it get broken unintentionally?

On a side note you might want to add a custom start code.  Let's discuss that later.

Printit Industries Model 8.10 fully enclosed CoreXY, Chamber heat
3-SD3's & a Workbench all fully enclosed, RH-Slic3r Win7pro, E3D V6, Volcano & Cyclops Hot End
SSR/500W AC Heated Glass Bed, Linear bearings on SS rods. Direct Drive Y-axis, BulldogXL
Thanks to all for your contributions

Re: Solidoodle Workbench Apprentice bad out of the box

From the original video it appears the probe was not pushed all the way down, causing the bed to come up too far and into the nozzles. Please make sure the probe is all the way down before starting the print.
You can check the start code from the G-code Editor tab and open the drop down menu and select Start Code.

Re: Solidoodle Workbench Apprentice bad out of the box

soliryan beat me too it.

on the solidoodle solitouch calibration video you see that the measurement switch needs to be manually pushed down. and then once the calibration is complete the bed moves up to push the switch back.  If you are not pushing the probe down then the bed will just bash into the extruder.

Yup when you watch the video solidoodle posted on their calibration probe and then watch yours it looks like the probe hasent been pressed down! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Lp1k67B_HM
