Topic: Repetier Host 1.06 printing issues

Previously I was having Z Axis issues which were fixed by upgrading my version of RH.  Now however when I slice and print an object it runs the start code and then jsut sits there.  It never heats up the extruder (well not for an hour or so) and when I kill the job it says that I have X commands left to process.  The app locks up and I can not even force it closed with task manager.  I am running on windows 8.1.

Things I have tried:
- changing "Reset on Connect" in Printer Settings to Disabled but then it would not connect to my printer.
- flushing the registry entries and appdata entries for the RH and the slicers
- uninstalling and reinstalling RH

Any ideas would be appreciated as it is now I can not print anything.

Solved:
I uninstalled and then removed all instances from the registry and app data.  Apparently there are multiples so remove everything if you need to do this.  Also, remove the previous RH directory before reinstalling.

What printer do you have?I have used RH 1.06 on win 8.1 on my SD3 with no issues. Maybe  check the heater wires for looseness since it takes so long to heat.;

SD3, E3D hotend, linear bearing on x/y axis',pillow block bearing on y conneting rod, ball bearngs on front y axis, fan on y stepper motor.

Re: Repetier Host 1.06 printing issues

I appreciate the reply.

I am on a Solidoodle 2.  It doesn't take a lot of time to heat up when it does.  IT seems as though there is a backlog of commands that don't fire or something.

EDIT: Currently it says 27 commands waiting.

I have somewhat similar symptoms on my SD3, except its my heated bed that wont heat up.

Could you try another pc/system?

That's a good idea.  I will go get another laptop and bring it in and try that now.

Okay so I just did the exact same thing with another computer running windows 7 ultimate (i7 / 6GB ram) and it did the exact same thing so I am completely stumped now.

So this "Command Waiting" thing is jsut killing me.  Even when I change the version it maintains the number of commands waiting.  Any thoughts anyone?

Re: Repetier Host 1.06 printing issues

Have you tried replacing the USB cable. Have seen previously replacing the cable fixes the commands waiting issue.

Re: Repetier Host 1.06 printing issues

Thanks for the idea.  I just tried three different cables and they all do the same thing.  If I disconnect the printer then I can hit OK in the manual controls and get the number of commands down to one but I can never get the printer connected and any activation.

If I had any hair left I would be pulling it out right now.  I got my printer on the 28th of November and have yet to print a complete model.

Perhaps someone can send me settings or something?  I am so lost.

Make sure your baud rate and comport is correct.

Re: Repetier Host 1.06 printing issues

Check the settings with another user, then also check connctors  and wires of the hot end.

Re: Repetier Host 1.06 printing issues

Make sure that all connectors on the board are connected in right places and
contacted tightly. Since you changed RH version, so compare the all settings
With another user.

make sure your not running the USB through a hub or extender.

Re: Repetier Host 1.06 printing issues

also any other serial port connected devices on computer can conflict with com port and may have to assign higher numbered port to 3D printer.

plus did you go into the new version of RH and setup that printer. most versions install with a default printer like an SD3 or? set print area sizes etc.

Solidoodle 2 with Deluxe kit cover & glass bed with heater. and 2nd board SD2 used not 3rd and alum platform not installed yet still wood. also need cooling fan installed to board. use Repetier Host couple vers. Slic3r also have all free ware STL programs

Re: Repetier Host 1.06 printing issues

Checked connections (as I was getting the extruder heat error earlier), not running through a hub, and am fairly certain that the port is free. I also set it up for the SD2 for sure.

I have tried so many settings that I have had to go in, uninstall and wipe everything (including registry() and then reinstall again to make sure I am only tweaking a couple of things.

I am trying to get a complete copy of the settings in another thread but so far no one is coming forward with a set.  This seems to be my only hope at this point.
